Los Angeles Korean Festival
September 21-24  Los Angeles, CA
In 2006, the Los Angeles Korean Festival celebrated its 33rd year.  This was my first time at this festival
so I chose to go on the Saturday of the festival.  On this day, there was the Korean Parade in addition
to the regular festival activities.  Even though I only took photos of the parade, there is actually a lot to
see at this festival.  They have a large carnival with rides and carnival games with very nice prizes.
There is also a massive stage for entertainment as well as a good amount of food, merchandise and
service booths.  I was surprised by the amount of people at the event.  The main festival was within
Seoul International Park in Koreatown, and it was wall to wall with people.  It was very difficult to move
around.  I've been living in Los Angeles since 1990 and I've never really had a chance to spend a lot of
time in Koreatown so I took time to look at some of the local shops and malls near the festival and
during this adventure, I saw that Koreatown is a very vibrant community.  Even without the festival, there
is plenty to see and do here.  I wish that I could have stayed at the festival longer, but what I saw really
impressed me and I wondered why I had never been to this festival before.  It's certainly worth going
back to.
