FanimeCon 2005 Cosplay
Photographing hall cosplay and FanimeCon was a very different experience.  I don't like to walk
around too much when I take my photographs.  I stay in one spot that I like.  For three days, I spent
most of my time outside in front of the convention center.  When I looked at the cosplay gathering
list, I thought that this area would be a hub of activity.  Well, I guessed wrong.  Most of the time,
there really wasn't a whole lot to do here.  Activity occurred in waves.  Most people just pass
through this area on their way to somewhere else.  Unlike other conventions that I have been too,
people like to stay indoors at this convention. I don't like to shoot indoors, so I just stuck with it.
When it's slow, I'm just not too motivated to shoot, regardless of how many cosplayers are in the
area.  I expected to get a lot more photographs from a convention of this size.  My galleries from
Ani-Magic and Anime-LA are almost the same size as the gallery for this convention, and the
attendance at those conventions is less than 1,000.  Still, I did learn a lot about shooting at this
particular location and I will probably do the same thing next year.  I might even try to get to some of
those gatherings in the nearby parks.
