Pacific Media Expo 2007
November 9-11  Los Angeles, CA
Pacific Media Expo was the second convention that I attended this year.  It seems that every year, I go
to less conventions as I begin to wind down the convention-going part of my life.  However, this is the
convention that I look forward to the most every year because it's so different from the typical anime
convention.  This convention features a lot of musical performances as well as other aspects of Asian
pop culture that don't fit in at anime conventions, such as a Korean drama video room and an
appearance by James Kyson Lee from the NBC TV show
Heroes.  Sure, there's also a lot of cosplay
and karaoke and anime, which are staples of typical anime conventions.  I look forward to this
convention the most because I'm interested in all of these things and this is the only convention that
tries to give equal time to all of it.

I also enjoy this convention because I get to do different types of photography since I am called upon to
cover many things.  Over the years I've covered concerts, cosplay, guest panels, and exclusive
interviews at this convention.  This convention has helped me to grow as a photographer so covering
this convention is not only fun, it's serious business.  Each year I find myself covering a lot of Asian
entertainment related events outside of conventions and it all starts with doing well at this convention.
