Less than one week after Anime Los Angeles, a large group of cosplayers and convention
photographers met on the UCLA campus for a winter-themed fashion photoshoot. Strangely, it was a
day of nearly record-breaking heat, but we managed to get through it without anybody dehydrating. We
rarely take photos of cosplayers in normal attire, so this was a new experience for a lot of us. For me, it
was a welcome change from the conditions at Anime LA. We had great weather and a huge wide open
campus with plenty of room to take photos and be a bit more creative. These were conditions that I
seem to prefer. Awful photography environments are one of the big reasons why I really don't like taking
photos at conventions that much anymore. In the end, I ended up with twice as many photos that I took
at Anime LA and at this event, I basically took photos of about 10 people in a span of about 3 hours.
There were many other cosplayers that showed up on this day, but I didn't have time to have a session
with all of them. Nontheless, it was a really fun event and I look forward to trying something like this
again in the near future.
Special thanks to cosplayer Shiya for organizing this event and the wonderful models that I got to work
with on this day.
